London Cenotaph

England (Whitehill replica)

Victoria Park

London Cenotaph

Six years after Canada's devastating losses in the First World War, the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE) suggested that London, On should have a cenotaph similar to one in London, England.

The one we have is no longer an exact replica as tributes to the peacekeepers and to veterans of the Korean War and the War in Afghanistan have been added.

These days, the cenotaph serves as a meeting place during Remembrance Day. It is not just about remembering those who died but also thanking those who are serving.

The monument is made from granite with bronze elements.
